nHabit 2: Begin with the End in Mind – So, what do you want to be when you grow up? That question may appear a little trite, but think about it for a moment. Are you–right now–who you want to be, what you dreamed you’d be, doing what you always wanted to do? Be honest. Sometimes people find themselves achieving victories that are empty–successes that have come at the expense of things that were far more valuable to them. If your ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step you take gets you to the wrong place faster.
nHabit 2 is based on imagination–the ability to envision in your mind what you cannot at present see with your eyes. It is based on the principle that all things are created twice. There is a mental (first) creation, and a physical (second) creation. The physical creation follows the mental, just as a building follows a blueprint.
nIf you don’t make a conscious effort to visualize who you are and what you want in life, then you empower other people and circumstances to shape you and your life by default. It’s about connecting again with your own uniqueness and then defining the personal, moral, and ethical guidelines within which you can most happily express and fulfill yourself.
nBegin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen.
One of the best ways to incorporate Habit 2 into your life is to develop a Personal Mission Statement. It focuses on what you want to be and do. It is your plan for success. It reaffirms who you are, puts your goals in focus, and moves your ideas into the real world. Your mission statement makes you the leader of your own life. You create your own destiny and secure the future you envision.
Then I thought, OK so now what?
nI didn’t know where to start…how to really visualize something and I didn’t want to “do” it wrong.
nI later read “Manifesting Change” by Mike Dooley. In the back he gives a great example.
nTo follow I have modified and paraphrased his example – it is based on what was in his book.
nMike Dooley makes a point of saying not to be specific in some cases. In other words it may limit you or what you’re asking for isn’t really want you really want.
nIn other words, say you ask/visualize/want $100,000. That’s fine but why? Maybe the idea is that it will make you happy. It will bring abundance.
nThen why not pull back the focus and concentrate on the bigger pictures; focus on happiness and abundance in general … and the feelings thereof?
nImagine sitting on a warm inviting veranda…
nHear the waves, the seagulls crying, feel the warm breeze on your skin, it feels great…
nYou smell the sea air and catch good whiff of some food on the grill…
nThe sun is setting and there’s a gentle song playing in the background…
nYou have a huge smile on your face, you’re beaming with joy….
nyou’re beaming with joy….because the house behind you is filled with all the people you love most….you’re feeling so much joy that a tear wells up in your eye…
nYou relish why these dear people have gathered, each is there because they love you…as much as you love them.
nThey are here to help you celebrate all of the fantastic changes that have been sweeping through your life….
nChanges that have shocked them, as much as they have shocked you – in a very good way.
nThese changes have quickly brought you happiness, joy, wealth and abundance. You feel relief. You feel such relief.
nThe past years were tough, you had challenges. You didn’t think this type of abundance and wealth could come to you this quickly!
nYou feel proud of your persistence, proud of your accomplishments.
nYou feel lucky. You feel blessed.
nYou feel connected to people around you. You even feel connected to nature, the Universe, connected to God.
nYour experiences have brought you wisdom and patience. You’re able to face life with humor – and share humor with others.
nDeeply Grateful, you make a promise to yourself while still sitting there that never again, for the rest of your life, will you ever let yourself forget how swiftly things can change for the better!
nRight now its as if all good things in your life, every cup is overflowing!
nThere is abundance! You have thousands of dollars more left over after you pay the bills!
nYou have extra cash to save, spend, invest, donate, share….
nYou love your life, you really love your mate, you love your children.
nYou love your work and you really feel fulfilled. You’re even creatively fulfilled.
nYou’ve never had so many friends and you’ve never laughed so hard!
nLife is good….
nVirtually everything you’ve ever wished for has come to pass.
nYou take a moment to think how grateful you are for your friends, for your family, your spouse, kids, your career, your good health, your income and positive cashflow!
nYou recall that things were once tough – but you now realize that you had to go through all that to get to where you are today.
nYou have multiple streams of income.
nYou no longer need worry about one source.
nFeel the relief. Feel the confidence.
nFeel the good, positive momentum!
nYou cracked some ‘code’, some secret, something in your recent past that has led you to this abundance, wealth and happiness. It seems so easy.
nYou have friends and a life with laughter.
nYou can travel when you want, where you want, with your family and friends. It is fun!
nYou are able to creatively act and help others.
nThe world is conspiring to bring good things to you each day. You are lucky!
nWow! That’s cool! Think about it!
nThink where you are! You have arrived!!
nAs good as you feel now you suddenly and completely realize that as relieved, relaxed, happy and as abundant as you feel, you know for certain that life will continue to get better and better, forever and ever!
nThink of something you imagine you can’t do but would like to be able to do. Now how would you stand if you knew you could do it? How would you talk? How would you breathe?
nRight now, put your whole physiology – your whole body give you that message.
nMake your whole body, make your stance, your breathing, your face, reflect that
nStand, breathe, act, talk, walk as if you knew you could do it. Now note the difference between this state and the one you were in.
nIf you are congruently maintaining the right physiology, you will feel “as if” you can handle what you didn’t think you could before.
